My name is Celia van Niekerk, I am an East Rand, Gauteng-based Photographer and Watercolour Artist.

I had the privilege to study Art back in the day and hold a Diploma in Art & Design….with photography as (my favourite) subject. I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember and I inherited my love of photography from my Dad who was an avid amateur photographer.

I started my photography journey back in the days of film – I still shoot film as a hobby these days. 

Apart from my formal training in Art & Photography, I have done numerous online courses over the past two decades with international, world-renowned photographers; to ensure that I stay on top of my game and improve my craft to serve my clients the best.

I have been a professional photographer and the proud owner of Celia van Niekerk Photography for very close to two decades now. Unfortunately, due to a shoulder problem, I had to hang up for a short while between 2020 and 2023….BUT I am back and excited to capture new memories for my clients! During my time off I decided to pursue a career in Art again: I do not just photograph people and pets, I paint them too. My studio is in Nigel, on the East Rand, where I photograph families, pets, newborns, maternity sessions …and many more.

I regard myself to be very blessed to be able to lead such a joyous and creative life; I am thankful to the Lord for giving me the talents and means to do so and I am striving to make it my purpose to spread the joy through my art.

Apart from being a full-time artist and photographer, I am also a part-time Theology student working towards my degree. Believe it or not, studying is my hobby…I am a serial-student. I am crazy about dogs, especially Dachshunds, classic old-fashioned musicals and you can pretty much bribe me with anything chocolate!
