My name is Celia van Niekerk, I am a South African Pet and Family Photographer as well as a Portrait Artist. (Yes, I do not only photograph pets and people, I paint and draw them too!)
I have always been curious about photography, as my Dad was a keen amateur photographer back in the day. I was tickled pink by his camera gear, film stock and photography books.
I hold a Diploma in Art & Design, with Photography as one of my major subjects. I have been a professional photographer and the proud owner of Celia van Niekerk Photography for the past 17 years, but due to a shoulder problem, I had to hang up my camera in 2020 for a while. So, I decided to pursue a career in Art. (You can view my Art Portfolio on my website: www.celiavanniekerk.co.za) I picked up my camera again at the end of 2023, missing photography greatly, and is available again for family and pet portrait photo shoots.
Apart from my formal training in Art & Photography, I have done numerous online photography courses over the past two decades with international, world-renowned photographers; to ensure that I stay on top of my game and improve my craft to serve my clients the best.
I regard myself to be very blessed to be able to lead such a joyous and creative life; I am thankful to the Lord for giving me the talents and means to do so and I am striving to make it my purpose to spread the Joy of the Lord through my photography.
I specialize in pet and family photography; which includes maternity, newborn, babies and general family photography. I am also available for corporate portraits (headshots) as well as product photography.

A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
I am crazy about dogs, all dogs, but Dachshunds specifically! Believe it or not, studying is my hobby…I am a serial-student. I have not really stopped studying since school, and I have done various courses ranging from Chef and Catering to Fashion Design, Education, Art and various Photography Courses. At present, I am a part-time Theology student working towards my degree, but I am already planning my next study (ad)venture, which will most probably be dog-related. I drink way too many cups of tea or coffee in a day. I LOVE old classic movies and 50s and 60s musicals. I learned photography by shooting film (not digital) and I know my way around a photography darkroom. I love seaside holidays and good chocolate and can make a killer milktart! Last, but not least, I am petrified of spiders.
